Hazrat Muhammad ( SAW ) and the Tabby

Hazrat Muhammad ( SAW ) is very kind to all the animals. He ( SAW ) taught us the lessons of kindness to animals. Because the animals are also living thing and can feel the pain if someone hurt them. They are just speechless, but they have emotions like the humans. So he ( SAW ) taught us a lesson of affection to all animals.

Prophet Muhammad ( SAW ) loves the cats too. According to Islam Muezza is the favorite cat of Hazrat Muhammad ( SAW ). One day Hazrat Muhammad ( SAW ) awoke to offer a prayer, he ( SAW ) began to dress, He ( SAW ) soon found that his cat Muezza was sleeping in his prayer of a robe. Instead of waking the cat, he ( SAW ) used a pair of scissors and cut the sleeve off, so that the cat may not be disturbed.

Another story about the cat and Hazrat Muhammad ( SAW ), upon returning from the mosque,  received a bow from Muezza. He ( SAW ) then smiled and gently stroked his beloved cat three times. While the folk tale of Muezza Tabbies in both Muslim and non-Muslim sources and many hadith reference cats in a positive manner, it does not appear to be attested before the 20th century. It may be based on a similar story told by the followers of the medieval Sufi sheik Ahmed ar_Rifa’i who is also said to have cut his sleeve because a cat was sleeping on it, then stitched it up later and said: “nothing changed”.

Through these stories, we came to know the importance of cat in the Islam. And also we came to know the love of Hazrat Muhammad ( SAW ) for a cat. Regardless, Cats today are still, for the most part, secured and regarded in the Islamic world and are even allowed inside mosques.
